Why this symposium

Because women's pain has been unheard for too long

For far too long, women experiencing pain have felt dismissed, misdiagnosed, or left navigating fragmented systems of care. This reality affects patients — and women doctors and healthcare practitioners themselves.

The symposium creates a focused, inclusive space to address these persistent inequities and explore pragmatic, evidence-informed solutions that place empathy and connection at the center of care.

From Olympic physicians and UN consultants to pioneering women in medicine: a curated circle of progress, empathy and research.

Our vision

Because medicine is more than a diagnosis

Science heals through knowledge. People heal through relationships. The future of medicine requires both.

Medicine is evolving beyond the treatment of disease toward the creation of health. The Woman in Motion International Symposium was founded on the belief that the future of women's healthcare lies in combining scientific excellence with human connection, recognising that optimal clinical outcomes are achieved not only through accurate diagnosis and evidence-based therapies, but also through the quality of the therapeutic relationship between physician and patient.

Across every medical specialty, research increasingly demonstrates that the clinical environment itself influences health outcomes. The words physicians choose, the way information is communicated, the level of empathy expressed, and the trust established during consultation all contribute to the patient's physiological and psychological response to treatment. These contextual factors influence stress regulation, pain perception, treatment adherence, shared decision-making, and patient engagement through well-described neurobiological mechanisms, including placebo and nocebo responses.

The Woman in Motion Symposium embraces a modern model of medicine in which scientific innovation and compassionate communication work together. Our goal is to inspire healthcare professionals to create clinical environments that are scientifically rigorous, emotionally intelligent, and centred on the whole person.

By integrating advances in neuroscience, women's health, preventive medicine, sports medicine, cardiology, regenerative medicine, artificial intelligence, and behavioural science, we aim to equip clinicians with practical strategies that improve both medical outcomes and the patient experience.

This philosophy extends throughout the entire programme. Every lecture has been selected not only to present the latest scientific evidence but also to demonstrate how evidence can be translated into meaningful conversations, stronger therapeutic partnerships, and more personalised care. Whether discussing chronic pain, cardiovascular disease, menopause, elite athletic performance, pregnancy, or artificial intelligence, the common thread is clear: medicine is most effective when scientific expertise is combined with communication that promotes understanding, safety, trust, and patient empowerment.

In a remarkable convergence of intellect, innovation, and international prestige, Luz Innovations Medical Academy illuminated the academic world with its groundbreaking Medical Symposium, hosted at the esteemed Jentschura Akademie in Münster, Germany, on 5 April 2025, followed by an exclusive practical workshop day at the modern private practice Z.O.R. Am Roggenmarkt in Münster on 6 April 2025.

This elite gathering brought together internationally respected experts in sports medicine, orthopaedics, regenerative medicine, and performance science, creating an inspiring environment where pioneering research met clinical excellence.

Across two extraordinary days, distinguished physicians, researchers, and innovators explored the future of preventive medicine, regenerative therapies, precision diagnostics, and human performance — through thought-provoking lectures, practical demonstrations, and interdisciplinary discussions addressing some of the most important challenges in modern medicine.

Scientific highlights

  • Prof. Dr. Brigitte König — the mitochondrial foundations of bone health.
  • Dr. Craig F. Buhler — the internationally renowned AMIT method and revolutionary concepts in sports medicine.
  • Dr. Ulrich Frohberger — a comprehensive approach to athletic diagnostics integrating functional, biochemical, and clinical assessment.
  • Prof. Dr. Antonio Ferreira — his experience as team physician behind Portugal Rugby's remarkable international success.

More than a scientific meeting, the symposium became a catalyst for collaboration, innovation, and a shared commitment to advancing the future of healthcare and human performance.

Designed for physicians, healthcare professionals, therapists, researchers, elite athletes, and visionary thinkers, the event also welcomed individuals passionate about preventive health, longevity, and optimizing lifelong performance.

For those who seek knowledge, embrace innovation, and aspire to remain at the forefront of healthcare, this symposium represented far more than an event — it marked the beginning of a movement.

Featured keynote

Words change biology

From protocol to pathmaker — the measurable medicine of language in women's health

Canada Dr. Brenda Lau Anesthesiologist · Pain Specialist · Clinician-Scientist · Hypnotherapist

We accept without question that a molecule can change a body. This session asks a harder question: what if our words do the same — measurably, mechanistically, every time we speak to a patient?

Dr. Brenda Lau is an anesthesiologist and pain specialist who spent a career abolishing pain with chemistry — and then discovered that the most under-used intervention in medicine is language itself. Drawing on the neurobiology of communication, placebo and nocebo science, and the psychoneuroimmunology that links a nervous system to an immune system, she shows how the words a clinician chooses become neurochemical events in the patient's body: shifting cortisol, inflammation, pain perception, and the capacity to heal.

This is not a talk about bedside manner. It is a talk about biology. Dr. Lau translates dense clinical science into a clear, usable model — and then invites physicians to the frontier where medicine is now looking: the measurable fields the body generates, the emerging science of noetic medicine, and the whole-person patterns that conventional single-variable trials were never designed to see, and that women's health can no longer afford to miss.

At its heart is a framework of four functional activations — a map of how any of us moves from following instructions, to exercising agency, to creating, to becoming a presence that changes the rooms we enter. It is a map for patients. It is also, quietly, a map for the physician who is ready to stop following the protocol and start making the path.

Participants will leave understanding that healing begins with understanding — of symptoms, of signals, of patterns, of root causes — and that the clinician holds, in her own voice and her own regulated presence, a therapeutic instrument she was never trained to use. When women are well, families, communities, and whole systems move. This is medicine in motion.

What you'll gain — and leave with
What you'll gain
  • The neurobiology of language — how communication measurably shapes a patient's pain, stress physiology, and healing response.
  • Pattern literacy in women's dis-ease — why symptoms cluster across systems, and what whole-person patterns reveal that organ-by-organ medicine misses.
  • Reading the signals beneath the symptoms — a practical lens for root causes, and an evidence-grounded introduction to noetic medicine and the body's measurable fields.
  • Language that activates — concrete communication tools that turn compliant patients into agents of their own healing.
  • A framework you can practice from — the four functional activations, as a map from protocol to pathmaker.
What you'll leave with

Respected, not lectured — intrigued, re-inspired, and quietly certain you're more powerful in the room than your training ever told you.

  • The language audit — three rules for turning words that harm (nocebo) into words that heal.
  • The 60-second safety opener — shifting a patient's nervous system into the only state where healing information can land.
  • The physician's own reset — a breath-based practice to regulate your own state before you walk in.
  • The four-activation self-check — noticing which level you're practicing from, and how to climb.
  • The whole-person lens — a four-part question set (Feelings, Inner words, Regulation, Environment).

Mind Mastery — the physician's own brain, and the 15 rules that run every patient's

Dr. Brenda Lau (Canada)

Dr. Lau takes physicians inside the mechanics of the mind under pressure — the amygdala hijack that takes the prefrontal cortex offline mid-consult, the vagal levers that bring it back, and the fifteen "rules of the mind" that govern how patients (and clinicians) accept, resist, and act on information. A hands-on session: participants train the hijack-recovery response in their own bodies and learn to spot these rules operating live.

What you'll gain — and leave with
What you'll gain
  • The neuroscience of the hijack — why the prefrontal cortex goes offline under threat, and the vagal mechanism that restores it.
  • A trained recovery reflex — a repeatable, breath-based method to bring executive function back online in under a minute.
  • The 15 rules of the mind — subconscious "operating rules" mapped to the neuroscience you already trust.
  • Clinical pattern-spotting — recognizing each rule live, in patients and in yourself.
What you'll leave with

Steadier, and quietly relieved — the overwhelm you feel mid-shift is trainable neurology, not a personal failing.

  • The hijack-recovery breath.
  • A pocket card of the 15 rules with their clinical translations.
  • A "spot-it" checklist for the five highest-yield rules in a live consult.
  • One reframing script that turns a nocebo sentence into a therapeutic one.

  • Recognize early signs of mitochondrial dysfunction, chronic stress, and hidden energy depletion.
  • Apply practical strategies to improve recovery, cognitive performance, and physical endurance.
  • Discover how nutrition, movement, sleep, mental resilience, and recovery influence mitochondrial function.
  • Integrate evidence-based lifestyle interventions into clinical practice and daily life.
  • Develop a personalized framework for long-term energy, health, and high performance.
What you'll leave with

"There is an Olympian inside every woman — not the one who wins medals, but the one who learns to listen to her biology, restore her energy, and perform with resilience for decades to come."

  • Your own personalized Ignite Your Inner Olympian framework.
  • Practical tools you can implement immediately.
  • A deeper understanding of women's performance biology.
  • Clinical insights applicable to patients and everyday practice.
  • Evidence-based strategies for optimizing energy, resilience, and recovery.
  • A renewed perspective on how to achieve excellence without sacrificing your biology.

Harnessing F.I.R.E. — Feelings · Inner words · Regulation · Environment

Dr. Brenda Lau (Canada)

A four-part operating system for the clinical day itself — reading the body's signals, choosing language that steadies rather than shames, managing the internal chemistry that determines whether you can think, and changing the small pieces of your environment that are actually in your control. A workshop in motion: each element is paired with a real clinical scenario and a simple mobility shift.

What you'll gain — and leave with
What you'll gain
  • A day-level burnout intervention — F.I.R.E. as an operating system for the shift itself, not a retreat you never have time for.
  • Language that steadies — the Five Agreements of Miguel Ruiz turned into clinical self-talk.
  • Internal-chemistry regulation — the SHIELD model (Sleep, Handling stress, Interaction, Exercise, Learning, Diet) as the physiological base of action-readiness.
  • Movement as a reset — mobility shifts you can use between patients to change your state in seconds.
What you'll leave with

Permission, and a plan — lighter, more agentic, less alone.

  • A 2-minute morning F.I.R.E. check-in.
  • The Five Agreements as a self-talk card.
  • The SHIELD self-audit.
  • Three between-patient mobility resets.
  • A worked "colleague's day" you can copy.
